Council at its December 2024 meeting resolved to place the updated Master Plan on public exhibition with changes to the Sandy Point Reserve pages. Council will receive any comments up until Friday 14th March 2025.

Hay Shire Council is urging residents to support a petition led by local member for Murray, Helen Dalton MP, which seeks to protect regional and remote communities from the potential impacts of Commonwealth Water Buybacks. The petition can be signed in the Council main office in Lachlan Street or at the Hay Library, copies can also be downloaded here.

Draft Policy – Sale (Trade) of Water

As a Local Water Utility (LWU), Council is permitted to engage in Temporary Trade of Town Water Allocations with the approval of DPE – Water (i.e. requires Ministerial approval). This policy on the Sale (Trade) of Water has been developed to meet community expectations, maximise returns and minimise risk. Council has resolved to place the draft policy on public exhibition and comments will be received up until 5.00pm Friday 7th June 2024
