                  Modified Pool Opening Hours (Week of 25–30 January 2026)
                  
                  Due to the forecast heatwave next week, Council will be adjusting the opening hours of the John Houston Memorial Swimming Pool to ensure the community can safely enjoy the facility during extreme weather conditions.

Revised opening hours are as follows:

                  How to stay safe during a heatwave - NSW Ambulance Service
                  
                  Stay cool: use fans, air conditioning or seek cool spaces such as libraries and shopping centres or community facilities. Drink plenty of water: stay hydrated and avoid alcohol or sugary drinks. Limit outdoor activities: avoid the hottest parts of the day and take regular breaks in the shade. Check on others: look after elderly relatives, neighbours and all those who might need extra help.

                  Australia Day Awards 2026
                  
                  Australia Day in Hay will be celebrated at the Hay Goal Museum from 8am, with Celebration Breakfast, Flag Raising Ceremony, Presentation of Australia Day Awards and Australia Day Ambassador Ron Delezio Address.

This is followed by activies at the Hay Swimming Pool from 12pm, with Pool Inflatable, Childern's entertainment and a Free Sausage Sizzle and refreshments.

                  Telstra Network Disruption Advice - Planned Outage
                  
                  Telstra will be upgrading its mobile base station that services Hay, with services in the area tobe temporarily affected while the upgrade works are underway. Telstra mobile customers will receive texts advising of the upcoming work. See here for the full notice from Telstra

                  Christmas and New Closure arrangements
                  
                  Hay Shire Council Office’s and Facilities will be closed from 24th December 2025 and re-opening on Monday 5th January 2026. Garbage Collections are unchanged however collection times may change, the Waste Transfer station will be open on Boxing Day, the Swimming Pool will be open most days, closing Christmas and Boxing Day
