NSW Health is updating the COVID-19 Safety Plan for community sport organisations in response to rising case numbers in NSW and the ongoing risk of transmission in the community.
Organisations are reminded that they are required to comply with the current
Public Health Orders and note that the
COVID-19 Safety Plan community sport template was updated on Thursday 16 July 2020 with additional requirements relating to minimising spectator attendance at community sport and ensuring measures are in place to exclude participants returning from Victoria in the past 14 days or who have attended a case location in NSW.
In addition to the current COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements for community sports, the following steps should now be incorporated:
- Ensure processes are in place to exclude participants (including spectators and officials) if they have visited Victoria in the 14 days prior
- Ensure processes are in place to exclude participants (including spectators and officials) if they have attended any of the reported case locations listed on the NSW Health website
- Take all reasonable steps to minimise the number of spectators attending community sport events, and
- If sufficient numbers to field teams cannot be achieved, prioritise delaying the event rather than substituting with people from other teams or from the community.
