Hay has an extremely active sporting community representing almost every possible sport. The town has great facilities for sporting enthusiasts such as swimming, rugby oval, AFL oval, two cricket pitches and batting nets, gymnastic centre, golf course, lawn bowling greens, shooting ranges, netball, squash & tennis courts.

Being located on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, the town also offers a great range of water activities such as fishing, canoeing, water skiing and wake boarding.
